CityStar® has always limited the number of major categories in our directories in order to make it easier for our primary customers, the endusers, to find things. In the past several years, the CityStar® category list has changed somewhat, with minor, unpopular categories having been removed, and more popular categories added.
Here is CityStar's current list of 40 major categories:
CityStar® Associates are often asked by prospective clients if new categories can be added to the above list. Although the corporation is certainly willing to listen to clients' ideas for new categories, in general we have found that the suggestions tend to be too narrow to reasonably become a major category throughout the CityStar® network.
However, Sub-Categories can very easily be added instead. For instance, when a client suggests adding a category of "Dental Insurance," CityStar® Associates can suggest creating a sub-category of "Dental Insurance" within the category of Insurance. In this set of circumstances, the Insurance category is more appropriate for the client's listing than the category of Dentists, and the new sub-category will automatically show up in the header of the new listing.
