CityStar.com was developed as the National Website Directory by CityStar® Group, Inc., a Colorado based media company. For over 15 years, CityStar® has been a leader in technology, interactivity, and multimedia. The people who created CityStar® have collective decades of experience creating entertaining and informational media.

CityStar® is a network of 300 City Directory Sites attracting up to 12 million hits a month. The network has been extensively promoted via TV, radio, print media, outdoor advertising, direct mail and on the Web. Thousands of Web sites have linked to CityStar®, and CityStar® pages have top positions in major search engines for more than 2,100 keywords. There are currently over 96,320 websites listed in the National Website Directory. It's easy to add yours, as well.

CityStar's administrative and support facilities are located in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and its servers are in Colorado Springs, Los Angeles CA, Houston TX, Knoxville TN, Green Bay WI, Miami FL and Fayetteville NC.

CityStar® Group, Inc. was founded in Colorado Springs, Colorado as a sole proprietorship in December, 1994 by Artie Romero. Within a year, a simple website was posted, and the domain citystar.com was registered in December, 1996. In 1998, the site was first organized into a local Colorado Springs business directory. In December, 1999, CityStar was established as a C corp in Colorado by Artie and Sherry Romero.

CityStar® first became a federally registered trademark in 2002. That same year, starting with 33 sites in Colorado, 300 City Directory Sites were gradually added for cities in 47 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, Great Britain and four Canadian provinces. 20 of these city sites are currently in development, including a major expansion into several more countries. Each of the CityStar® city directories includes pages of listings for resources in other nearby cities, covering a total of over 4,918 cities and towns.

In the fall of 2009, CityStar's Business Development Director David Gregory Taylor began work on CityStar's first official Associates Program, in order to train and deploy hundreds of local Associates thoughout CityStar's coverage area.

Community Ties

Early in CityStar's history, the company established strategic alliances with local community groups such as Convention and Visitors Bureaus, Better Business Bureaus and Chambers of Commerce of various cities.

CityStar® is a BBB Accredited Business with an A+ rating and zero complaints on file. Artie Romero and other company representatives have presented dozens of workshops on Internet marketing through our partnership with the Better Business Bureau of Southern Colorado and various local community groups and library districts.

Artie Romero has appeared in local TV and radio news reports and other interviews numerous times over the past decade, in order to help promote informed and responsible use of the Internet.

In the Internet community, the company has strived to be good citizens as well, working with Google, Yahoo! and Dexknows.com to maintain high quality information and relevance in CityStar's local city directory sites, and the National Website Directory.

Animation Studio

In 1994, Artie Romero launched ARG! Cartoon Animation Studio. Since the establishment of CityStar®, ARG! has been an operating division of this company. In order to better focus on its directory business, the CityStar® Group, Inc. board of directors has decided that ARG! should be a separate corporation, and CityStar® is in the process of implementing this change.

Data Link/CityStar®

Data Link/CityStar® is a separate company which provides Web hosting and Internet access services. CityStar® Group, Inc. sold its ISP, web design and hosting operations to Data Link Systems, Inc. of Colorado Springs in June, 2008, and licenses the citystar.net domain, its CityStar® trademark and several nameservers to Data Link for the convenience of our former customers.

These licenses will expire and the domains and nameservers will return to the control of CityStar® Group, Inc. on June 3, 2011. However, CityStar® Group, Inc. executed a non-compete agreement with Data Link, and has no plans to get back into the ISP, hosting or SEO industries. CityStar® Associates who are in these businesses should rest assured that CityStar® has no intention of competing with them.
